Independent games, electronics and toy marketplace GameSeek sees record sales – in February

One of the UK’s leading independent marketplaces, GameSeek, has revealed that February 2018 saw the highest sales ever on its platform.

Online retail can be a seasonal business, with peak times often around summer and Christmas. For GameSeek Marketplace, however, 2018 appears to have broken that trend. Sales figures show that the annual large ‘dip’ that follows Christmas saw a reversal this year, with February 2018 having greater sales than December 2017. Despite February being a shorter month by three days, it has overtaken the extremely busy holiday season in terms of sales.

“Traffic is definitely a factor in this sales turnaround as is the high quality of Marketplace Partners. This is a clear indicator that we are on the right path.GameSeek is innovating the marketplace model by only get paid when retailers get paid: offering no monthly fees, no setup fees, zero cost listings fees and working closer than ever with every retailer advising them how to win the buy box. Combined with this progressive approach for retailers; GameSeek Marketplace will also continue to evolve as it grows and become an even more engaging and enjoyable place to shop for the consumer.”
Karl Westerside, Marketplace Manager, Gameseek

Founded in 2000, based in Cheshire, UK, GameSeek is the largest fully independent retailer in its field, selling a variety of products including video games, computers, electronics and toys and with more than 3 million customers.

Retailers opening their own independent marketplaces such as Halfords, Tesco and Game have all seen huge uplifts in sales as a result of adding a marketplace element to their omni-channel strategy. GameSeek, while smaller than these giants in terms of turnover, demonstrates just how successful this strategy can be.

  1. Well we cant even get them to create a new product right now. Keep sending them ????

However we are already on several of these sites, some more successful than others.
One independent marketplace we did over £20K worth of sales in a Year, not to be sniffed at.
The UK based marketplaces do have more of a challenge getting their message out because of the dominating factor of Amazon and to a lesser extent these days eBay. These two dominate so much of the space out their and make so much noise it is a uphill battle to get seen.
However if people want genuine competition in the UK they need to embrace these new opportunities. No subscription Fees, no silly defects systems……downside however cheapest always WINS on these sites.
