With the introduction date for GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) looming on the 25th of May, it’s vital to get your head around the new data rules. So it’s good to report that the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) has launched a new portal with lots of authoritative GDPR information.
It is going to be important to be on top of the new GDPR rules if you store any customer data whatsoever. And you’ll also need to understand exactly what you’ll need to do if someone gets in touch, for instance, to ask what information you hold on them and your responsibilities are when it comes to potentially deleting it all if they request that.
You can find the FSB GDPR information resources here. And there is a neat little infographic too for an at-glance look at some of the things you should be thinking about.
We have worked with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), the Government body leading up the work on GDPR, in creating engaging content that will help you understand and prepare for the changes. Alongside this, you will find members talking about GDPR, a useful GDPR checklist to help you prepare and information about FSB’s legal services team that can support you #FSBeDataReady.

The FSB is a respected organisation and it’s also reassuring that this content has been produced alongside the ICO so you can be sure it’s trustworthy. And not only will the FSB be promoting understanding on Twitter using the hashtag in this article’s title but there are also some videos, including interviews with the Information Commissioner and SMEs, that explore the issues surrounding the topic.
If you’re interested in finding out more, and are close to Redditch, then there is an event on the 25th April (not organised by the FSB) targeted specifically at marketplace merchants and GDPR that might be worth checking out.
