Start selling on new European marketplaces for a Christmas 2018 sales boost

One of the core competencies of the successful online seller and marketplaces merchant is a focus on looking ahead and planning for the future despite the seemingly never-ending slew of tasks that need doing today. As you work to get the weekend’s orders out, it’s crucial to look ahead and plan for how those orders will still be coming in six months, even a year hence. And the plethora of European marketplaces you could be selling on, should form part of your deliberations to grow your business and profits in the future..

That’s why we’ve put together a handy free download for merchants considering marketplaces beyond eBay and Amazon called: 15 European marketplaces you should know about. It does exactly what you expect from the name on the tin and includes insights and information into the likes of Allegro, Bol.com, Cdiscount, DaWanda, Fnac, Fruugo, La Redoute and more.

There are a number of very good reasons why, even as Brexit gets ever closer and many details remain unclear, expansion and forays into European marketplaces for this peak season make sense. For starters, absolutely nothing will change in time for this coming Christmas. Export rules, duties and tariffs, and postage regulations will stay the same and exporting to the EU will be frictionless and easy.

But other aspects of the marketplace landscape also make it a good opportunity now:

  • In Europe, eBay and Amazon don’t always dominate and local and country specific marketplaces lead the way. In Poland, for instance, Allegro is the favourite online marketplace.
  • British goods remain popular with European consumers. (As recent research from Royal Mail regarding French consumers illustrated.)
  • The relative weakness of sterling continues to put UK merchants at an advantage. Goods from Britain look well priced to those with Euros to spend.

The diversity of marketplaces that are out there and available to merchants has been one of the themes that we’ve been closely examining in the first half of this year with our Marketplaces 2018 series, which is available in full by clicking the link. And it’s not too late to get organised and open up one as a new sales channel for this coming Christmas.

So if that’s an idea that’s of interest to you, and we think it’s a great place to start, then the consolidated download featuring 15 different marketplace opportunities, offers you an easily digestible read that you can download here for free.
