Etsy advises merchants about potential Canada Post disruption

With the potential of disruption of a strike by workers at Canada Post still on the cards, craft and vintage marketplace Etsy has issued advice to merchants regarding the potential stoppages that may commence on Monday. If the action goes ahead it’s likely there will be significant Canada Post disruption for at least 72 hours in the the first instance.

In a post called Potential Shipping Service Disruption For Sellers Shipping To, Within, and From Canada, Etsy seek to reassure their sellers that they will not penalise any merchants who do their best to play fair and further explain the possible nature of the industrial action.

You can read the full advice from Etsy here, but they say in the information:

You may consider updating your shop policies with information about delivery adjustments and researching alternative commercial shipping carriers such as Chit Chats: chitchats.com. In all cases, we suggest that you reach out to your buyer and work on a solution together. If you otherwise follow Etsy’s shipping policies, Etsy will not hold you responsible for delayed shipments as they relate to Canada Post during this time.

As we noted last week, eBay has also issued guidance to merchants should the strike go ahead.
