Beacon Care Services mental health therapy is now available to local residents of a Texas Walmart store.
Beacon Health Options, a behavioural health service company, are working to address the shortage of health care professionals across the US. Beacon Health Options has leased space inside of the Walmart store for the creation of a mental health practice at Walmart physical store in Carrollton, Texas. The location is strategically chosen to bridge the mental health gap as only 35% of mental health care needs are met in the city.
Local residents are now able to get help from a licensed professional mental health clinician to treat common psychological issues including depression, relationship problems, anxiety, stress and grief.
“We chose a retail setting for the first practice because it offers the convenience of a local neighborhood location that is close by and easy to get to, and our evening hours accommodate our patients’ schedules. People don’t know how to find a behavioral health or mental health professional. People don’t know where to go and what to do. Our online appointment scheduling system makes it easy for people to plan their visits ahead of time to fit into their busy lifestyles. Our hope is to help close this gap by providing more trained clinicians in neighbourhoods throughout the country, starting in 2018 with Texas. We’re trying to mainstream behavioural health services.”
