Correos and Amazon have signed a three-year agreement which will see Amazon providing customers in Spain an accelerated and trusted last mile experience. The two companies are keeping the details under wraps with further details of how this will be achieved are not made public.
Correos is focusing on becoming the main logistics company in Spain. The Correos network is currently comprised of 2,400 post offices and 5,000 CityPaq. The company employs over 30,000 postmen. The agreement will be a major stepping stone in Correos’ aim towards achieving this objective. In the 2018 Christmas peak season, Correos saw record volumes, with more than 24 million shipments distributed in Spain in November and December.
Earlier this week, we reported on Correos partnering with AliExpress to support Spanish small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) cross-border growth. The partnership with the national postal service of Spain, Correos, Chinese marketplace, AliExpress and Alibaba’s logistics arm, Cainiao Network say the service is to boost cross-border exports for Spanish SMBs, with a focus to target European and Latin American markets. The collaboration also aims to attract more sellers to trade on AliExpress and take advantage of the cross-border opportunities the marketplace presents.
