Amazon Introduces Low-Cost Grocery Delivery Subscription in US

Whole Foods have slashed prices by 20% as Amazon aims to attract more subscribers with extended Whole Foods deals for Prime members exclusively.

The move marks a second time when Amazon made a round of price cuts when they acquired Whole Foods in August 2017. In 2018, Amazon introduced grocery delivery from store locations and discounts for Amazon Prime subscribers. Whole Foods now promises “deeper discounts” for Prime members.

Whole Foods Market continues to lower prices for customers. They say this will not happen at the expense of the quality that customers know and expect from them.

Value is about more than dollars and cents; it’s about ‘quality first’.”
– John Mackey, CEO and co-founder, Whole Foods Market

For nearly 40 years, says Josh, Whole Foods Market’s purpose has been to nourish people and the planet, and that remains true today. He says that they believe that customers should know where their food comes from, how it is grown, and what ingredients are used. We want customers to feel good about what they’re putting in their baskets, says Josh, and in many cases, customers choose to shop with us because of what they know they won’t find in the products we sell, such as high-fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners. John Mackey says that to maintain this integrity, Whole Foods created industry-leading quality standards, a set of rules that govern what they will and will not sell as shown in this timeline:
