eBay sellers urge Congress to relax policies denting SMBs

Some 24 eBay sellers met up with more than 60 US Congress members to encourage the policymakers to relax regulations denting sellers’ businesses.

The 14th annual US eBay Advocacy Day saw eBay merchants from 20 states advocating for policies that would ensure a fair trading landscape for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The discussion focused on regulations concerning exporting via eBay and affordable USPS service.

The sellers were joined by Devin Wenig, president & CEO, as well as other key eBay executives, including Jay Hanson, VP and COO, Americas, Marie Oh Huber, SVP, legal affairs, general counsel, Cathy Foster, VP of global government relations and public policy, Steve Wymer, CCO, and Suzy Deering, CMO, North America.

Seven groups of sellers told about their experiences as eBay shop owners to executives and government relations staff. They highlighted how government policies on trade and the postal service were directly affecting them and what was needed to help their small businesses to grow.

eBay haven’t revealed what came out of the meeting. However, this news highlight eBay’s effort to campaign against policies which damage merchants trading on eBay.

Last week saw eBay CEO, Devin Wenig urging the US government to “work” on four policies which make it difficult for SMBs to compete amongst larger merchants.
