Tamebay GFS Warehouse Visit for online merchants review

Last Thursday, the Tamebay GFS Warehouse visit took place in Newbury Berkshire. Along with Tamebay, invited online sellers came along and were hosted by GFS who threw open the doors to their warehouse to demonstrate how a fulfilment operation can be made as simple and trouble free as possible.

The retailers that came along were from an extraordinary diverse range of industries. From car motor factors to homewares and gifts and school uniforms to a garden centre. The Tamebay GFS Warehouse visit was designed to give an overview of how the ultimate warehouse can be run. Each business had a different set of challenges to solve and although the underlying processes are the same – orders in, goods out – the different operations meant that some have peaks that make Christmas look small and others simply have volumes which make efficient operations a must – 5,000 orders a week for one of the merchants.

GFS have a range of software solutions that can assist with shipping, right from a shipping add on for websites to offer the consumer exactly the delivery experience that they prefer, to automatically routing parcels to different carriers and automated label production on the scan of an order.

The visit was so well received by the retailers in attendance that we’re considering future visits to different businesses in the future. If this visit was too far south for you, GFS also have a courier depot style warehouse in Warrington and previously we also arranged a visit to an Amazon warehouse. Let us know what type of supplier visits you’d be interested in attending and we’ll do our best to arrange them. Obviously courier and fulfilment operations have a lot to see, but we would also consider visits to other types of supplier or even to speak to marketplaces themselves if there is the demand.
