With an estimated 8 million Amazon Prime members in the UK and 100 million world wide, Amazon Prime Day is Amazon’s artificial shopping event designed to boost sales in the early Summer. It’s been incredibly successful and is now established as a major shopping event in all countries where Amazon has a presence and there’s no reason to expect Amazon Prime Day 2019 to be even bigger than previous events.
Not only will Amazon be holding sales on Amazon Prime Day 2019, but it’s likely that many other retailers will too. Expect to see offers from the likes of Argos, Currys PC World, John Lewis, Tesco and probably also eBay. Last year eBay went big on the “We don’t do membership we do deals” messaging
When will Amazon Prime Day 2019 take place?

Prime Day 2015 – Wednesday the 15th July
Prime Day 2016 – Tuesday the 12th July
Prime Day 2017 – Tuesday the 11th July
Prime Day (and a half) 2018 – Monday the 16th – Tuesday the 17th July.
In 2017, Prime day ran for 30 hours starting at 6pm on Monday the 10th of July as Amazon expanded their promotion bonanza to attract even more sales. In 2018 this was extended even further and billed as “Prime Day (and a half) running for a full 36 hours.
With this in mind, our bet is that Amazon Prime Day 2019 is likely to take place in two months’ time on Tuesday the 16th of July with the sales starting the previous day on Monday the 15th.
With an estimated £3.3 billion spent by Amazon Prime members in 2018, there’s no reason to be surprised if Amazon extend the sale even further in 2019 – potentially to 40 or even 48 hours. Amazon announced that SME merchants sold over $1 billion worth of merchandise on Prime Day 2018.
