PayPal have announced a new PayPal Business Debit Mastercard which will replace your current PayPal Access Card. To get a PayPal Business Debit Mastercard you must be a PayPal business account holder.
Many online businesses loved the PayPal Access Card as it enabled them to spend funds in offline locations directly from their PayPal account to pay for business expenses. Having a debit card which accesses funds from your PayPal account means that the instant you have been paid you can spend the money either online with PayPal or offline with the PayPal Access card with no delay.
If you are a current PayPal Access Card holder, it will continue to work up until the 9th of September 2019 or by the card expiry date if earlier, after which the Access Card will close and your cardholder agreement will terminate. Naturally, after termination of your cardholder agreement or expiration of your Paypal Access Card, you will still have access to your funds on your PayPal account.
The new PayPal Business Debit Mastercard will provide you with the same instant access to your PayPal balance, plus a host of additional benefits such as zero monthly fee, zero foreign exchange fees on your international, online and in-person payments, flat £1 ATM fee per withdrawal worldwide and 0.5% cash back on all your debit transactions, uncapped and unlimited cash back.
If for no other reason, if you don’t have a card with cash back, spending your PayPal funds with the new PayPal Business Debit Mastercard will get you 0.5% cash back for all purchases you make with the card.
You won’t automatically get a new card – you need to apply online and if you currently have a PayPal Access Card PayPal will email your registered address with details of what to do. Full terms and conditions for the new card are available at paypal.com/uk/businessdebit and if you have any questions you can contact PayPal Customer Services on 0333 700 70 60.

I have a master card
And your point is?
So I can’t use my Paypal access (debit) card any more and to get the new card I have to change my Paypal account to a business account even though it’s not a business account? Bollocks!
I am dismayed to hear that the Paypal Access Card is being discontinued. I use my Access Card all the time for purchases and postage, but I am not a business and do not want to change my account to a business account. Very annoyed!
