Yodel have just announced that they delivered a record breaking 3.3 million parcels this Father’s Day, up 30% from last year. Not being able to see Dad has left many consumers flocking online to send a special something in the post. Gifts received have been particularly apt this year and include supplies for fishing, beehives for the garden, and telescopes for stargazing.
Yodel’s ‘Have Your Say’ customer feedback programme has revealed some revealing data including the fact there are lots of Daddy’s girls in the country. Daughters are 34% more likely than sons to buy a gift for their dads online and 7% of women who were shopping online in the week leading up to Father’s Day bought a gift for their dad, compared with 5% of men.
According to Yodel’s data, Dad’s received plenty of food and drink this year, sent by 36% of Father’s Day shoppers. It’s also interesting to see that despite Coronavirus causing some financial pressures consumers weren’t stingy about treating their fathers and most spent over £50 on gifts with Northern Ireland being the most generous.
“Father’s Day is a sentimental time of the year and we’re proud to play a key role in delivering gifts up and down the country, especially at a time when so many people can’t see their families. We work with several different retailers, and our ‘Have Your Say’ customer feedback platform gives us valuable insights into the spending habits of online shoppers across the retail sector. The whole Yodel family steps up to plan for key dates like Father’s Day to ensure that all of our specialist items – such as beer and whisky – are handled correctly and delivered on time.”
