eBay New Seller Hub – Individually Brilliant, Stronger as One

No primary category set

eBay have had a massive influx off new businesses, many of whom in the past were offline online high street retailers and it’s only the coronavirus lock down that promoted 10s of 1,000s to open an eBay shop and start selling online. To assist new sellers, eBay waived all selling fees through to the end of July providing a life line to these businesses who say their shops closed for 100 days and today we look at three, following the launch of eBay’s New Seller Hub which you may have seen (if you haven’t yet spotted it you can see it here).

The New Seller Hub is an extension of eBay’s ‘Individually Brilliant, Stronger as One’ campaign that focuses on the sellers at the heart of eBay platform who have fought to remain ‘open for business’ during some of the most challenging times any retailer could face. The page is ongoing and we’ll be updating it to feature a diverse range of sellers from every category, so keep an eye out for new additions!

Matey Measure

eBay New Seller hub Matey MeasureSteve Capon is an entrepreneur that has been waiting for his big break with his bespoke measuring tool, the Matey Measure. He set up his eBay store during lockdown exclusively to follow his appearance on the BBC’s The Customer is Always Right. Once the program aired, sales went through the roof and he is now working with the eBay trading team on growing his store.

“I set up shop on eBay so it was ready when my brand new Matey Measure invention appeared on ‘The customer is always right’. The eBay team really stepped up to help me through some early teething problems and the store is now up and running smoothly.”

Pennyworths Traditional Sweet Shop

eBay New Seller hub Pennyworth SweetsPennyworths Sweet Shop, run by Jennie Crowhurst, offers a wide range of sweets and confectionary. They had to find a channel to sell this perishable stock, while their bricks and mortar was closed for lockdown, and were shocked to discover the high demand for retro style sweets on an online platform like eBay.

“We would hate to see our confectionary going to waste, and selling on eBay offered us a quick route to keep selling in a short space of time. Our store has been so successful on eBay so far that we’re looking to open a second shop here in Dorset as a storage base to help meet the online demand.”

Jessops Jewellers

eBay New Seller hub Jessop JewellersJessop Jewellers is a respected Scottish jeweller – established in 1971. Today it remains a family business and runs with experienced, dedicated staff and a highly valued reputation for excellent customer service. Jessop Jewellers had to close their bricks and mortar during the pandemic and with the spare time, Sophie Jessop (Director), began focusing on building their eBay store.

“I really didn’t expect our eBay store to take off in the way that is has, and it’s really helped to cover the bills too! No other platform could allow a small Scottish jeweller a global shop window, with exposure to millions of shoppers!”
– Sophie Jessop, Jessops Jewellers
