Amazon Ship From Address requirements from November

No primary category set

As of the 1st of January, online marketplaces will be charged with collecting VAT for sales to the UK from overseas sellers. This will mean marketplace need to determine where products are shipped from and so expect to see Amazon Ship From Address changes towards the end of November.

Amazon have made changes to determine the actual “Ship from address” information when you confirm shipments that you fulfil. If you are selling to customers in the UK on Amazon, then you will impacted by these changes, regardless of whether you are a UK or overseas seller.

The new Amazon Ship From address field has been added as a part of the shipment confirmation workflow. There are three areas where Amazon have included the new field:

  • Seller Central
  • If you confirm shipments through Seller Central, the new Amazon Ship From Address field will appear on the Confirm Shipment page. Amazon will pre-select the default ship from address provided by you in your Shipping Settings. If you have shipped the order from the same address, you can confirm the shipment by providing other details following the usual shipment confirmation process. If you have shipped the order from a different address, then you must provide the actual ship from address.

  • Shipping Confirmation template
  • If you confirm shipments using Amazon’s Shipping Confirmation templates, then you will find the “Ship from address” field added to the template. You must enter the actual “Ship from address” in this template to confirm shipment. If you leave this field blank, then Amazon will use the ship from address you provided in your Shipping Settings.

  • MWS API
  • If you confirm shipment using MWS APIs, then you will find the “Ship from address” field as an additional field. You must enter the actual “Ship from address” when confirming shipment. If you leave this field blank, then Amazon will use the default ship from address you provided in your Shipping Settings.

“These changes will be available by the end of November 2020. If you are shipping to customers in the UK and are impacted by the new tax regulations, please start familiarising yourself with these changes and be ready to comply and use these features starting 1 January 2021.

More information about the UK’s VAT on ecommerce legislation is available here. Updated guidance on confirming shipments is available here.”
