It has been reported that once again, Amazon doesn’t trust FedEx to deliver Christmas and are restricting the use of FedEx Ground for some third party US sellers Prime orders due to the FedEx Ground and FedEx home delivery services not meeting the Amazon Prime 2 day delivery commitment.
An email sent out to Amazon sellers stated that the recent shipping time changes put in place by FedEx, due to the surge in Christmas shopping has caused them to temporarily exclude it as an option for seller fulfilled Prime orders as it no longer lines up with prime delivery times. This isn’t the first time Amazon has temporarily ‘Broken up’ with FedEx, they did the same last year in December for similar reasons before lifting it in January when they were once again happy with FedEx’s delivery performance.
FedEx has understandably extended their delivery times to give them the flexibility required to avoid stress on their capabilities during such a busy time. Both companies have been seeing much bigger demands a lot sooner than expected due to Coronavirus and with Christmas among other Celebrations around the corner, it is clear from the ban that Amazon doesn’t trust FedEx to deliver on time and would rather not risk customers getting their prime orders late.
As always merchants will still be able to ship Prime orders with one of the speedier services or couriers that meet the Prime commitment.
