Alibaba B2B Pulse: SMEs prioritising sustainability

No primary category set

The April edition of Alibaba.com’s B2B Pulse is out, the monthly report which shares macroeconomic and Alibaba.com platform trading patterns in order to act as a leading indicator for the coming consumer and retail sales trends.

The April Alibaba B2B Pulse reveals that small businesses are making sustainability a top priority. As going green and reducing carbon footprints continue to gain popularity, small businesses are creating business models and products that support the demand. In fact:

  • The Renewable Energy category has been one of the fastest-growing categories on Alibaba.com in 2022, with an average 19% month-over-month (MoM) growth in daily global demand between January–April 2022.
  • Within the category, the top subcategories of products with the highest month-over-month growth in global search volume are:
    • Lithium battery (48% MoM growth since January 2022)
    • Energy storage battery (19%)
    • Wind turbine (16%)

As an example, businesses like The Refill Shoppe, a Certified B Corp and carbon-neutral business that combines bulk eco-friendly and reusable bath, body, and home products, and ReVert Technology, the next-gen power extender that uses AI to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions on all plugged-in devices via a Teak Smart Cube, are forging the way in helping consumers live more sustainably in a creative and authentic way.

As sustainability considerations continue to grow, Alibaba.com’s Renewable Energy Online Trade Show, taking place through to the 5th of June, offers a unique one-stop digital sourcing experience for those looking for products that make eco-friendly lifestyles more accessible.  Nearly 500 verified suppliers and over 100,00 trending products in the renewable energy industry will be featured in the virtual trade show.
