Wish stop selling to Jersey residents

Wish have announced that as of the 1st of June, they will stop sales to residents of Jersey, the British Crown Dependency in the Channel Islands.

As part of our continued efforts to streamline our business and more efficiently allocate financial and operational resources, Wish will no longer support purchases from users in the British Crown Dependency of Jersey starting June 1, 2023.

Wish went on to say that their decision to exit Jersey should help increase the efficiency of their operations, strengthen the quality of the Wish platform, and ultimately allow them to better support your success.

This is a strange one, but by no means unfamiliar to those that are residents of the Channel Islands. Royal Mail deliver to them for the same price as to the rest of Britain, but too often retailers refuse to ship there. Other carriers do impose significantly higher charges due to the cost of shipping to the Islands. However it’s a strange move for Wish to make as traditionally many of their merchants haven’t been UK based and it makes little difference if you ship from China to the UK mainland or from China to Jersey.

Practically, for UK merchants, on the 7th of June Jersey will be removed from shipping settings (both Merchant Dashboard and API). At this point any unfulfilled Jersey-bound orders will be canceled automatically.

Before the 1st of June, Jersey residents may continue to make purchases on Wish, and you will be expected to fulfill these orders. If you do not wish to receive orders from users within Jersey before the 1st of June you should disable shipping to this destination in the Merchant Dashboard or via the Wish API.
