eBay.com have shared an upcoming improvement that they are making to their authentication guarantee process for Streetwear.
The current Streetwear authentication guarantee process includes 2 steps
- Authentication
- Listing accuracy
In some cases, items may be authentic but eBay’s experts discover a discrepancy between the item and what was described in the listing. When this happens, eBay communicates to the buyer what the discrepancy is and gives the buyer the opportunity to either proceed with the transaction or return the item back to the seller.
Sometimes, this might even be seller error – I know one seller who was mightily affronted when he received a message saying their item was not as described – it turned out that they had inadvertently shipped entirely the wrong item! However it’s likely that in most cases it will be the condition that may be subjective, or simply the seller hasn’t noticed a pre-existing defect that the authenticator has picked up on.
In the new authentication guarantee process experience launching mid-February, both buyers and sellers will be alerted when a discrepancy is found with details of the issue.
- For Sellers, you will start getting notifications when a Listing Accuracy issue is found in Seller Hub and via email.
- For Buyers, Listing Accuracy details will be sent to your email along with new notifications in your Purchase History and View Order Details pages asking you to provide a response from a new ‘Inspection Details’ Page
eBay launched this process with Handbags US in September of 2023 and will continue ramping up to other categories and markets in the first half of this year.
