PayPal withdrawal failure glitch

No primary category set

PayPal Bug BountyThere appears to be a glitch with PayPal withdrawals this morning. We’ve had a ton of people contact us to say that they’ve tried to withdraw funds to their bank accounts and they’ve bounced back.

Some people have even been charged for a failed withdrawal, others have repeatedly charged and had their bank account within PayPal disabled.

We’ve put a call into PayPal and will update you as soon as we have more news. The only advice we can offer at the moment is that if you do get a failed withdrawal don’t try again – wait until some news comes out of PayPal before you try again.

Not what anyone wants just as we’re coming into the busiest time of year, lets hope for everyone’s sake it gets resolved quickly. If you have been affected add a comment and let us know who you bank with in case there’s a pattern. We know for sure that both Lloyds and NatWest customers have been affected.

13.30hrs Updated to add PayPal apologise for the inconvenience and tell us that the issue has now been resolved so you’re safe to withdraw funds again. PayPal have told us that they’ll be refunding any fees that have been incurred through the glitch.

  1. This is definitely a PayPal problem. I had a payment bounce back from the Halifax and when I called them they said they had received several calls with the same problem.

I logged into my PayPal account to find they have charged me 50p for the failed transaction and then told my bank account had been disabled for transfers as a security measure.

I waited on the line to speak with somebody at PayPal for the best part of an hour and my entire morning has been wasted, so I’m not impressed. They tell me the problem is either with PayPal or the fastpay system they use and it’s a massive technical glitch they are hoping to resolve by the end of the day.

Anybody charged for the failed transactions can ask to be reaccredited and the email they sent out is basically hogwash. They suggested I try again in a few hours but frankly I think they should issue a message on their site explaining the problem along with an email when it is resolved. No doubt many people who need the money are panicking right now.

  2. happened to me, email said bank was at fault, bank said no , no payments have tried to come through.

rang paypal, waited 15 mins on hold, she said they had loads of calls about it and definately paypal problem, she had to refund me 6 lots of 50p

  3. tried it twice this morning both to Barclays both bounced back both got charged, 15 mins on hold to paypal to be told its a problem and to wait, they have refunded the fees though

  4. We have tried 4 times and been charged, thing is i know it’s only £2 but to pay one of our staff to call up and wait on the phone will cost us more than £2 🙁

  5. Tried twice to withdraw to HSBC, both the transactions were reversed and they charged fees twice!

    SORT IT PAYPAL!
