According to Nimbus Hosting, 25% of people don’t trust online retailers enough to make purchases or provide sensitive information. That’s a lot of lost business. The below infographic has plenty of ideas and tips on how you can inspire trust.

Nimbus says: “One simple way to remedy this perceived security shortfall is by switching to using an https prefix from the traditional http protocol. This allows secure sessions for users of your site, encrypting data so that it can’t be stolen or used without their permission.”

  1. Why does a visitor looking at a product description need to be protected by ssl? all it does is increase load time, the customer isn’t entering any information.

A slight dip in traffic? expect more than a bit and plenty of sleepless nights particularly if you are already ranking well.

Certainly give comfort to buyers when entering information into a form and have ssl protection but I honestly can’t see the point for products and informational pages.
