“I ripped off Amazon for £1m+ because of account hold”

No primary category set

Amazon is increasingly becoming a target for scammers – having rinsed eBay buyers over the years, fraudsters are turning to Amazon where buyers have absolute trust that Amazon will deliver.

As a note of caution, we’re seeing a number of instances where buyers end up paying fraudsters off Amazon – If you want Amazon to protect you then only ever pay for Amazon purchases through the Amazon website.

The latest case however concerns a Wiltshire man who has been failed for 32 months for scamming Amazon buyers of over £1.1 million worth of TVs and other consumer electronics items. The defendant had the best excuse ever, claiming that he had “traded legally on other accounts and believed Amazon had wrongly held on to his money and goods and planned the fraud for leverage“. He managed to cheat over 2,000 customers before finally being caught and brought to justice.

  1. Be nice to have more information from Tamebay on stuff like this.

A link in your article to the news stories would be helpful too.

  2. Were the funds recovered? I’d happily serve 32 months in jail for £1mil net gain
