Amazon and Apple Music have partnered to allow customers to play their personalised playlists via the marketplace’s voice assisted devices. The new feature will see US customers exclusively enjoying an ad-free experience to make the most out of the Christmas season.

The marketplace have upgraded Amazon’s Alexa music offering with Apple Music. iPhone users in the US can now enjoy their favourite songs, playlists and albums via Amazon’s Alexa smart devices as well as listen to the Beats 1 radio station. Customers can subscribe to Apple Music for £9.99 per month for a single user or choose a family plan for £14.99 which allows a multivariate iPhone access at once.

Amazon say that customers can also ask Alexa to steam expert-made radio stations centred on high-demanded genres including Hip Hop, the 80’s and K-Pop.

“We’re excited to announce that Apple Music will be available on Echo devices beginning the week of December 17. Apple Music subscribers will be able to enjoy Apple Music’s 50 million songs on Echo devices. As well as access to Apple’s library of songs, subscribers will also be able to listen to the Beats 1 radio station. Apple Music has been a holdout on the Alexa speaker until now ‘just ask Alexa to ‘play Beats 1’ to hear Apple Music’s global live stream including in-depth artist interviews— all completely ad-free. Simply enable the Apple Music skill in the Alexa app and link your account to start listening.”
