Gumtree have just revamped the Gumtree forums and integrated social media into the site. If you’re not a regular Gumtree user you probably didn’t even know they have a forum, but if you have a Facebook account you can use now use Facebook Connect to sign in.
As well as Facebook connect you can also share threads on Facebook, and the forum integrates Gumtree related Twitter tweets, YouTube video and blog posts. Importantly you can also now follow conversations on RSS for instant updates of topics you’re interested in.
There are some “under the bonnet” tweaks for SEO optimisation and to reduce spammers or abuse of the forums, as well as some moderation tools, but most users won’t notice these. At the same time they’ve fine tuned the layout to make the normal text heavy forum layout a little easier on the eye.
Finally as an introduction to Gumtree forums they have have a cutesy video with some forum guideline and “do’s” and “don’ts”.
