Ex-eBay CEO Meg Whitman has won the Republican nomination for the Governorship of California. Whitman spent more than $80 million, including $70 million of her own personal fortune, on the race against State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner. She will now face Democrat Jerry Brown in the election on November 2nd.
Earlier this week it was revealed that Whitman once pushed an employee while at eBay. The employee threatened to sue but accepted a settlement of “around $200,000”; she still works for eBay. One has to question the timing of the story (actually, one doesn’t…) but Whitman herself isn’t above a little negative campaigning.
