Hope FM community radio, eBay & W8Data

Today I made the trip to Bournemouth’s community radio station for the Lunch Bytes show on Hope FM hosted by Brian Harries. The show focuses on current affairs, business & politics had around 80,000 listeners today.

I was there to talk about eBay, and some of the questions from listeners were interesting. Sue (not Sue from TameBay!) called in to ask whether eBay focuses too much on buyers and not enough on sellers. Other calls questioned why PayPal make a £5 charge for faster withdrawals and should sellers pay extra for tracking when Royal Mail should deliver items next day anyway.

These are all questions I’ve seen asked many times on both TameBay and the eBay discussion boards. It’s always reassuring to know it’s not just me personally, but others across the country also have the same concerns and challenges in their businesses.

I was joined on the show by Marc Ryan from W8Data. They’re an interesting company who specialise in database cleansing. They’ll allow you to send your user database to them, prior to doing a mail shot, and they’ll give a free report letting you know how many of your customer records are out of date. If you then want to use their services they’ll charge for cleaning your database, but they only charge for the records which are incorrect or out of date.

If you are in the Bournemouth area or listened to the show online, and have any questions please feel free to drop a question in comments below.
