The 2012 Ecommerce Football Tournament Rules

No primary category set

We’re looking forward to the Tamebay Ecommerce Cup – Managed by Genie and the Geek which is being held on July 11th in Wembley. By the looks of things so are many of you as 16 teams signed up for the match in under 24 hours.

All teams should have received registration details today and we can’t wait to announce the groups for the knockout stages, which we’ll do as soon as the team sheets are in. As with all great football tournaments there will be a knockout stage followed by quarter finals, semi finals and then the last two teams standing will slug it out in the final.

Fans are welcome and if your company doesn’t have a team in the competition you’re more than welcome to pick your favourite company to support.

Location:

Goals Wembley, Alperton Lane, Wembley, HA0 1JH

Timings

The event will run from 7pm to 9pm but teams should arrive by 6.30pm. There will be an update at 6.45pm for which all teams should be present so that we can ensure that the first round of matches start at 7pm.

The Rules

Seeing as Dan and I have a limited knowledge of how to play football (Other than get the ball into the net) we’re relieved that our chums at Genie and the Geek are somewhat better informed! Hence we’re able to publish the rules under which the 2012 Ecommerce Cup will be played.

Kits

All teams must wear the same colour top. It would be excellent if all teams had a full matching kit however as long as the colour of the top is the same, this will be acceptable. Bibs can also be worn.

Footwear

We are playing on outdoor 3G/5G artificial grass 5 a side pitches. or should be worn. Studded football boots should not be worn as there is a high likelihood of injury when wearing these on astro turf pitches.

Matches

There will be 4 groups of 4 teams. For the group stage we have booked 4 pitches. Each group will play on a designated pitch.

Each team will play the other group members once with the top 2 from each group to go through to the quarter finals. Group matches will begin at 7pm prompt and will be 8 minutes long without half time changeovers. The Group Stage should last no longer than an hour.

The quarter finals and semi-finals will be played on 2 designated pitches and again will be 8 minutes. The final will be 10 minutes long.

Match Rules

The goalkeeper must remain in his area at all times.
There is no head height rule in place.
Goals must be scored from outside the area.
Outfield players may not go into either area.
When the goal keeper passes out of the area, you cannot pass straight back to the keeper.
All free kicks are direct free kicks.

Qualification

In the event that there are two teams on the same points, they will be decided via goal difference; then goals scored, then the result between the two teams.

In the knockout stages, if the score is equal at full time, there will be a sudden death penalty shootout. This will be the same for the final too.

The trophy will be presented at the end of the final. There will also be an award for player of the tournament.
