Amazon launch Kindle Store in China

Amazon have launched a Kindle store in China, according to Reuters. China is the world’s most populous country and it’s expected that Amazon’s move signals an intention to officially launch the Kindle reader there soon.

China’s ebook market is already well developed with homegrown devices dominating the markets. The Kindle will have to comepte with Hanwang Technology e-readers and Shanda Cloudary’s Bambook. But it seems that Chinese people already buy Kindles from overseas. The new Amazon Kindle store will have to contend with E-commerce China Dangdang Inc and 360buy who already have ebook shops.

Earlier in 2012, the Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire were approved by the Chinese authorities for sale. We’ll what for Amazon’s next move.
