PayPal have announces that the PayPal Here app optimized for the iPad is now available in the United States.
The app has been re-written to work seamlessly and beautifully with the iPad, it gives the ability to scan an item’s barcode for faster checkout, wireless connection to a cash drawer and printer and of course sales activity tracking in “Daily Summary” reports.
PayPal Here for iPad is designed for small retail storefronts, sole proprietors, offices, or businesses who want to accept payments more simply with an easy to set up, scalable mobile payment solution that grows with their business. It’s perfect for those small businesses that don’t already have an existing solution.
However PayPal are also working with dozens of existing vendors that supply retail POS solutions – from large ones like NCR to mid-market providers like Shopkeep, Leapset, Vend, Kounta and Erply – so that they can offer businesses new ways to connect with their customers without ripping out their existing POS solutions.
PayPal are working to bring online and offline commerce under the same payments umbrella, in a similar manner to how eBay are starting to integrate high street commerce with their online marketplace. The aim of eBay Inc is to provide tools retailers need to enable to consumers to buy anything, anywhere. That’s why they are using MiLo to bring inventory from local shops onto eBay and trialling same day delivery for those times when next day is still a day too late.
There’s a long way to go before we see PayPal solutions in every shop in UK high streets, but we’re expecting to hear more news in the near future. In the first week of PayPal Here being announced in the UK, over 11,000 businesses expressed interest in obtaining the credit/debit card smartphone chip and PIN solution.
