There’s just a month to go until the kick off for the 2013 Tamebay Ecommerce Cup – Managed by Genie and the Geek and we’ve can now reveal the list of competitors. There’s still just one place left (first come first served), so if you want to play email [email protected].
The teams (in alphabetical order) are: 3PL, Amazon, Auto Trader, Channel Advisor, Channel Grabber, eBay, eSellerPro, FastWay Couriers, FlubIt, Ford, Genie and the Geek, Iwoca, Just Giving, Kurt Geiger, Linnworks, Metapack, Play.com, Rakuten Linkshare, RAZsor, Seko Synergy, Seller Dynamics, Wholesale Clearance and Zoocha. We’ll be doing the draw to determine which teams are in which group soon.
Due to the success of last year’s five aside football tournament we’ve expanded the field from 16 teams to 24 teams. As a result each team will play a guaranteed five games in their group of six (up from three games last year), before the top two from each group proceed to the quarter finals. If last year’s competition was anything to go by fitness levels will need to be up as each game was a fiercely fought contest!
The Rules
Timings
1st Matches to start at 7pm. Final to be complete by 10pm.
Teams
24 teams, 4 groups of 6 teams. Each team has a minimum of 5 matches.
The event will run from 7pm to 10pm however please get to the centre by 6.30pm allowing you time to get changed and receive fixture lists. There will be a pre-tournament briefing at 6.45pm for which all teams need be present. This way, we can ensure that we start the first round of matches at 7pm.
Kits
All teams must wear the same colour top if you are unable to wear actual kits. Bibs may also be worn.
Footwear
We are playing on outdoor 3G/5G artificial grass 5 a side pitches. Blades or astro turf boots should be worn. Studded football boots should not be worn as there is a chance of injury when wearing these on astro turf pitches.
Matches
There will be 4 groups of 6 teams. For the group stage we have booked 4 pitches. Each group will play on a designated pitch. Each team will play the other group members once with the top 2 from each group to go through to the quarter finals. Group matches will begin at 7pm prompt and will be 8 minutes long one way without half time. The Group Stage should last no longer than two hours.
The quarter finals and semi-finals will be played on 2 designated pitches and will be 9 minutes. The final will be 10 minutes long.
Match Rules
The goalkeeper must remain in his area at all times. If he leaves his area a penalty will be awarded.
There is a head height rule in place.
Goals must be scored from outside the area.
Outfield players may not go into either area. If a defender goes into his own area, a penalty will be awarded
When the goal keeper passes out of the area, you cannot pass straight back to the keeper.
All free kicks are direct free kicks.
Qualification
In the event that there are two teams on the same points, they will be decided via goal difference; then goals scored, then the result between the two teams.
In the knockout stages, if the score is equal at full time, there will be a sudden death penalty shootout. This will be the same for the final too. The trophy will be presented at the end of the final. There will also be an award for player of the tournament.
