Invest NI: Being Successful in Online Marketplaces

No primary category set

Invest NII spent the whole of last week over in Northern Ireland and during the course of the week had the privilege of meeting with around 350 high street retailers interested in selling on eBay and Amazon.

The week was in partnership with Invest NI, Northern Ireland’s regional business development agency. Invest NI’s role is to grow the local economy and my brief was to talk about how retailers can expand their businesses using marketplaces and if they’re already using marketplaces how they can be more successful.

As well as a keen interest in eBay and Amazon, there was also great interest in the new PayPal Here device. Many retailers attend trade shows and in the coming months are intending to sell at Christmas Fayres, so being able to take card payments on the go is key.

The main thing the retailers want of course is to sell more and importantly to sell profitably. If you’re experienced at selling on marketplaces you’ll already know how to succeed in eBay Best Match and how to win the Amazon Buy Box, but as a quick reminder here’s a video of when I was last in Northern Ireland in June on “Being successful in online marketplaces”.
