How nice are Royal Mail posties?

No primary category set

Helpful Royal MailWe love our posties, they do such a great job especially at this time of the year, but occasionally we hear of a mail worker who goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Leanne Preston was the recipient of her postie’s kindness when they spotted her wandering chicken named Windmill, making a run for freedom. They popped a “While you were out” card through her door to let her know where to find Windmill.

Leanne would apparently like to thank her postie, but no one knows who he or she is. Now having posted the delivery card onto Facebook it’s gone viral and even picked up by the US news, although they’ve no idea what a Royal Mail postie looks like so they’ve added an image of a USPS postie.

We may moan about the Royal Mail, USPS and delivery services in general. We may grouch when we fear they may go on strike, but it’s good to be reminded that these are not only hard working people delivering our parcels day after day… they’re also keeping an eye out for us and are generally really nice kindhearted people.

Thanks to Jane at Eauctionanorak for spotting this on Facebook

  1. .
Try this one, of the posty returns to his depot with a story that his post cart [the Red thing with wheels] had been robbed & 2 items were nicked.

They told the buyer this & guess what, yep, One of the items was our’s.
    SODS LAW…. or what?

  2. Well we have excellent relations with both our regular ‘posties’ (deliveries & collection) and think they are both fine chaps.
Both have been very helpful & flexible when we have needed this from them so we have no complaints and only praise.
As for the management layers above them however – that is a very different story.

  3. In Rural areas the same Postie often has the same route for years. Gets to know the people on his or her route and their families and all the old and vulnerable on the route. So not really surprised that a Postie in Somerset also knows the Chickens on their route. More surprised that the person whose chicken it was did not know their Postie.

I have had the same postie in Cornwall for many years. The only change tends to be on his day off or when he is on his holidays.

Have often had a chat with him on the doorstep. If I had to mark him out of 10 on his service I would give him 10 out of 10 every time.
