Amazon coins now available in France, Italy and Spain

Amazon have extended their Amazon Coins porgramme to include France, Italy and Spain. Up to now the Coins have only been usable in the USA, UK and Germany The virtual coins are used to purchase app, video games and the like on Amazon, using a Kindle Fire.

To get the party started, Amazon is giving away millions of coins to users.

The notional value of the coins is €1 for 100. Amazon customers can purchase the coins for in-app and other purchases. Stateside, they cost a penny each. In Europe they cost $6.58 (€4.80) for 500 coins; $123.00 (€90) for 10,000 coins.

Amazon coins were introduced in May 2013 for customers to purchase apps, games, and in-app items on the Kindle Fire. The company gave away tens of millions of dollars worth of coins at the time of launch.
