Insights for the future from 20 years of channel retailing with Paul Dilger, Volo Commerce

Category: News

20 years ago in 2004, Chris Farrelly started writing code for what was to become Volo Commerce right at the start of channel retailing when pretty much only eBay and Amazon were in the game. Fast forward to today, and Volo Commerce CEO Paul Dilger shares his reflections looking back at the company’s highlights and insights for the future.

Paul talks about both the challenges of growing profitably on channels in 2024 as margins are squeezed and the added competition from brands embracing D2C retailing, further squeezing retailers ability to compete. But he also shares the opportunities from new marketplaces ranging from Tesco through TikTok to Teme and how retailers can build resilience into their operations to remain profitable.

A huge congratulations to all those past and present who have been involved in the Volo Commerce journey as they celebrate their 20th year – to those who have worked at the company and those who are customers. It’s also testament to the value proposition that some current customers have been with Volo almost from the start!
