Amazon’s now offering 1 hour delivery across the entire island of Manhatten in New York City. The service had previously only been available across some of the area.
Called Prime Now, and accessed using a special web app, it offers free delivery within 2 hours and delivery within sixty minutes for a $7.99 charge between the hours of 6am and Midnight.
Amazon’s full catalogue isn’t currently accessible through the service rather the inventory available concentrates on a domestic range. Items such as paper towels, shampoo, books, toys, batteries, and other general household items can be bought.
Obviously, Manhattan is both an affluent and densely populated part of NYC so it’s easy to see that Prime Now is attractive there. We’ll be keeping an eye on whether a similar service is developed in London which must also have commercial appeal to Amazon managers.
