Hermes in Germany have acquired a 28.5 percent stake in LieferFactory who offer a specialist “Liefery” service, providing same-day or time-specific delivery.
Liefery currently work with 2,500 couriers in over 50 German cities and Hermes will use this collaborative process to further extend its range of package-related services for commercial shippers. Clients can now use the Liefery same-day delivery service as an additional delivery option in many regions across Germany.
Frank Rausch, CEO of Hermes Logistik Gruppe Deutschland and Hermes Transport Logistics GmbH explains “There is rising demand for same-day delivery, particularly in the areas of technology, sports and fresh produce: demand that we are able to fulfil with our first-class service“.
The Liefery network is currently focused on around 50 metropolitan areas, in which more than 2,500 couriers supply deliveries to recipients round the clock. In the cities they operate collection and delivery is completed within 90 minutes or at a defined time on the same day.
Hermes now intends to increasingly offer “Same Day Service powered by Liefery” to the commercial shippers and online traders that they already serve. Clients will then be able to order very fast delivery for both online and instore sales. For example, if Liefery is displayed as a shipping option in the online shop, the goods are shipped from the trader’s closest branch.
When it comes to store-based retail, the Liefery delivery is ordered at the counter. The customer can then track the delivery status for his/her purchase at any time using shipment tracking – ideal for when you wish to buy an out of stock item when in a physical store.
This new service is another tool in the arsenal for businesses as the lines blur between online and offline retailers and signals that Hermes are committed to providing an ever widening range of delivery products and services.
