InPost, the parcel locker service, has appointed Ian Caminsky as the new CEO of InPost UK.
Ian has more than twenty years’ experience helping to build multi-million pound businesses, most recently at Tesco where as Director of Partnerships and Business Development he launched Tesco’s third party retailer marketplace and managed the development of the Tesco Partners Programme.
InPost Advisory Council
InPost have also created an “InPost Advisory Council” to help drive forward their growth plans. They have enlisted the support of David Spottiswood, former Director of Global Operations at DHL Express, as Non-Executive Chairman.
InPost Advisory Council members will be: Peter Somers, former Executive Committee Member for bpost; Neil Sachdev, Non-Executive Director for intu PLC and former Property Director at both Sainsbury’s and Tesco; Peter Williams, Chairman of boohoo.com and former Non-Executive Director of ASOS; and John Acton, Managing Partner of DPI Europe and former Executive Vice President and Board Member of the DPD Group.
The changing shape of the UK delivery market
There are a ton of new delivery solutions which InPost will be competing with – the likes of Doddle and Amazon lockers and solutions such as Pelipod’s individual home lockers, parcel shops from companies like Collect Plus and myHermes, Amazon’s own delivery couriers and of course same day delivery services from Shutl and (yet again!) Amazon. That is of course on top of click and collect services such as eBay’s Argos program and retailers own store pick ups.
Lockers will undoubtedly form a part of the delivery solution in the UK, they’re convenient, operate long hours or even 24 hours a day and cater to those who aren’t necessarily at home when the post man call.
