Today is Amazon Prime Day!

No primary category set

To celebrate their 20th birthday, today is Amazon Prime Day where they are offering thousands of products in an event to rival Black Friday.

On Black Friday in 2014 Amazon sold 5.5 million products which means something like 64 items sold per second, that’s some record for Amazon to beat on a summer July day when the rest of the retail world aren’t traditionally holding sales.

The record will be doubly difficult to smash as Prime Day is only open to punters who already have a Prime account, who signed up in advance at the discounted £59 rate for the year, or people who are savvy enough to open a Prime account on the 30 day free trial and if they no longer wish to use it after today’s sales cancel before the direct debit comes out in a months time.

Of course if you already have a Prime account you’re probably wondering what deals will be on offer. Although you’ll have to log on to check the sale prices, here are a few of the advance deals on offer:

Workout DVD Windows Tablet Tablet Sport Camera

Microsoft Band Hair Straightners GoT Cat Food Maze

  1. It has been pretty disappointing so far……

My sales are normal for a Wednesday.

  2. I am trying to take advantage of the extra traffic by running some promotional prices too – it is still early, but nothing so far. It certainly will be interesting to see some figures on what the day achieves for Amazon.

  3. I had a couple of emails from Amazon showing me stuff on offer. Star Wars Bluray set caught my eye so I clicked through. Couldn’t find it in any offers, current, upcoming or passed.

    Did anyone else find it?
