Royal Mail services in Cumbria & Northumberland

No primary category set

Due to recent adverse weather, Royal Mail services in parts of the CA, TD, LA and NE postcode areas are affected. Royal Mail postmen and women are out delivering mail across the vast majority of addresses in Cumbria and Northumberland where it is safe to do so.

Delivery offices in Penrith, Hexham, Prudhoe, Cockermouth, Keswick, Workington, Wigton and Tebay plan to remain open for customers to collect any undelivered items of mail, although mail is being sorted in other locations.

While flooding is hampering some deliveries due to road closures, a range of contingency measures have been put in place to ensure deliveries reach people as quickly as practicable.

Royal Mail is offering a free Redirection service for victims of the flooding who have had to move out of their homes temporarily and therefore wish to have their mail delivered to an alternative address. Customers will need to pay for the redirection initially and they will be refunded as soon as application is processed. Identification is required to process applications and Customers are required to make a payment in the first instance to protect them from fraudsters.

To help customers served by the Carlisle Delivery office further, Royal Mail is holding mail and those waiting for deliveries or important letter or parcels can pick up their mail from Carlisle Delivery Office, Junction Street, Carlisle, CA1 1AA at their convenience.

Customers should bring a form of Identification (bank card, driving licence) with them to pick up mail. A local collect service can also be set up by customers should they require it while they are in the office.

Royal Mail said “We would ask customers to bear with us at this difficult time and we apologise to those affected. Royal Mail is doing all that it can to get deliveries to our customers at this important time of year“.
