The Delivery Conference round up

We’ve still some news to share from the Delivery Conference – DPD who never fail to innovate year on year are about to announce some really interesting plans, sure to please retailers and consumers alike, which we’ll share shortly, but what of the conference itself?

1,400 delegates attended what was the biggest Delivery Conference to date and the team at Metapack who put the conference together must be rightly proud of it’s success.

The speakers from major carriers read like a who’s who of British couriers: Roger Morris, Head of Parcels at Royal Mail; Dwain McDonald, CEO at DPD; Dick Stead, Chief Executive at Yodel; Carole Woodhead, CEO at Hermes; and Helen Wylde, Director of Sales and Marketing at Parcelforce Worldwide. All had interesting news to share, everything from Royal Mail’s recent acquisitions (ecourier, Market Engine, Mallzee) through to myHermes, Yodel, DHL and DPD investments in delivery choice for the consumer.

There were also interesting perspectives from retailers including House of Fraser, River Island, John Lewis, ASDA, Marks & Spencer and Asos with analysis of their own 2015 Peak period experience and sharing their plans for the year ahead, couple with innovation from companies like Volvo and their deliver to car boot testing (mirrored by DHL with Audi in Germany).

Whilst it’s a bit early to book for The Delivery Conference 2017, based on this year’s experience I’d highly recommend attending. It’s free, it’s the first conference of the year and best placed to look back at the Christmas peak delivery performance and it’s the place where the major carriers are becoming renowned for revealing their new strategies and features for the year ahead.
