Amazon have reassured their sellers that they’re committed to their UK retailers and helping them sell across the EU and around the world.
They say that the EU referendum changes nothing and they will continue to operate their fulfilment network across Europe and that Britain leaving the EU is not going to change anything. Whilst acknowledging that there may be very different arrangements for trade between the UK and EU in the future it’s good to see Amazon putting a stake firmly in the ground and reassuring sellers that their businesses are safe.
Here’s the full message to sellers from Amazon:
The way we run our business and support our customers and sellers is unchanged. We continue to operate a fulfilment network across Europe. Every day, customers around the world benefit from access to millions of products from U.K. sellers on Amazon. We are committed to supporting U.K. businesses selling in the U.K., in Europe and worldwide, and to helping businesses worldwide sell in the U.K. and in Europe, now and in the future.

Of course they would say that. But any UK based online business that sells to the EU knows the impact the UK leaving the EU, and by default the common market, would have. Already we’ve finalised plans to divest from UK based service providers (we don’t know how many will survive brexit) and have moved our principle operations outside the UK to the EU. For us the is EU our largest market and we’re moving now to lock in lower prices in preparation for the possible (it hasn’t happened yet) enactment of article 50. If we have to choose between the UK and the EU, the choice is obvious.
