Amazon Logistics to launch in Northern Ireland

No primary category set

fulfillmentAmazon Logistics is set to open operations in Northern Ireland as soon as next week, according to reports. It will be based in Carrickfergus, County Antrim and will employ 18 staff directly with four different delivery firms servicing the deliveries. So far, those companies have hired 130 new staff to cope with anticipated demand.

This is the first time that Amazon logistics will have operated in Northern Ireland since launch in 2012. An Amazon spokesperson says they will be “employing 18 people directly at the new delivery station in Kilroot Business Park, Carrickfergus, which opens next week. Additionally, four independent, regional delivery companies have hired more than 130 drivers who will deliver parcels from this new delivery station to Amazon customers across Northern Ireland.”

Obviously this is good news for jobs in Northern Ireland and Amazon shoppers and it’s good to see they’re no longer being neglected.
