eBay experiment with Accelerated Mobile Pages

AMPeBay have announced that they have been experimenting with Google led Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) technology. The new browse experience is live, and about 8 million AMP-based browse nodes are available in production.

The Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project is an open source initiative that embodies the vision that publishers can create mobile optimized content once and have it load instantly everywhere. Up until now it’s been publisher based content providers who have trialled AMP, eBay are the first major non-news site to implement AMP.

eBay’s AMP version of the new browse experience is live, and about 8 million AMP-based browse nodes are available in production. For instance check out Camera Drones and Sony Playstation on a mobile device to see the eBay AMP experience.

eBay say “We are excited to partner with Google and everyone else participating on the AMP Project to close the gap in launching a full-fledged eCommerce experience in AMP. We have created a combined working group to tackle the gap, and we will be looking into these items and more”.

  1. Ebay? Experimenting again?

And sellers will be the lab rats once again.

“a full-fledged eCommerce experience” ??? What does this nonsense actually MEAN ??

Why don’t they just get the site to work properly and be up 100% of the time???

    Wouldn’t that be a “a full-fledged eCommerce experience”???

    Gaaaahhhh!!!
