It’s been good to see eBay investing in a marketing and PR campaign to accompany the launch of its new Curve marketplace section. In particular the campaign has been very active on social media.
At the forefront of the campaign are three “ambassadors”: plus size model Tess Holliday, columnist Callie Thorpe and Bishamber Das.
The Curve Fashion Hub showcases female fashion items from sizes 18 – 36. The hub will offer instant inspiration allowing shoppers to browse the best of the high street, alongside boutique sellers and big name brands, including Very, Boohoo, Littlewoods and Figleaves. It’s a canny commercial move: over 50% of British women wear clothes size 16 and above.
Tess Holliday say: “I’m so happy to be working with eBay for the launch of the Curve Fashion Hub. Both Bishamber and Callie are absolute trailblazers and it was incredible to be able to encourage women to reset the outdated rules of style that we’ve been told for far too long.
When eyes around the world are looking to the runways of the likes of New York and London, there has never been a more important time for us to show fashion at all sizes – as after all – women don’t just come in one size. Ultimately, I want British women to be able to wear whatever makes them feel amazing.”
