If you’ve got a website with Shopify, Worldpay, BigCommerce, and CyberSource then you’ll now be able to offer financing through Klarna to consumers wishing to make a purchase. Klarna’s service has also rolled out across the Arcadia Group brands including Topshop and Miss Selfridge.
Klarna’s proposition is to take away the friction of payments, they simply ask for your email address and Post Code and to make a purchase. The first time you use Klarna you’ll have to enter your address details and mobile number (mostly prefilled thanks to the Post Code) but from then on Klarna remembers you.
With Klarna you don’t actually pay, you enter into an agreement to pay Klarna later, although if you prefer paying straight away then you can of course enter your bank card details. If you want to pay after delivery, you just click “buy now” and then you have 14 days to pay.
The aim is to reduce abandoned shopping carts, especially on mobile where hen pecking in your name, address and bank card details are a particular pain.
Luke Griffiths, UK General Manager of Klarna, said “After the successful launch with fashion giant Arcadia Group, we’re excited to make this retail financing solution available to even more merchants and consumers across the UK. It not only delivers one of the most seamless solutions available today for people shopping online and on mobile, it also offers instant access to financing without redirecting customers away from the online store”.
