eBay CEO Devin Wenig talks Trump

No primary category set

eBay CEO Devin Wenig has sent a memo to all eBay staff in reaction to the election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States. It’s worth noting that Wenig donated $2700 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

You can read the full statement here.

In one quite telling paragraph he says: “From the beginning, eBay has worked to create a marketplace that is inclusive, fair, fostered by global trade, and empowered by small business entrepreneurship. As I travel to our offices around the world, I have the privilege to interact with people of countless nationalities and backgrounds. This diversity is one of the most valuable assets we have as we drive our business forward.”

Perhaps linked to Trump’s victory in the US presidential election is eBay’s decision to make a number of lay-offs in India. You can read the story here: On day of Trump’s victory, eBay lays off staff in Bengaluru.

During the election campaign President-elect Trump threatened to levy taxes on US firms who took and kept jobs overseas.

  1. Wenig is delusional.

    Ebay – inclusive ?????

    Ebay – fair ?????????????????????

Really, Mr Wenig ? Really ???

With your level of delusion, Mr Trump will be phoning to offer you a top job any time soon.

  2. Small business entrepreneurship… I had that until it was crushed by the chinese & hong kong warehouse megasellers that flooded ebay UK c.2013 and drove market value from all the products

Before that I was happily importing select products and marketing them to the UK

That’s when ebay became less a tool of empowerment for me personally.

ebay don’t care about UK and US small business sellers they care about inventory and profit.

  3. I just look forward to the day eBay crashes down. Nothing would make me happier than to see this repugnant enterprise bite the dust. No comment on the delusional waxwork that is wenig.
