Classic Google+ retired on 24th Jan with Events added to new Google+

From the 24th of January Classic Google+ will start to disappear from the web in favour of Google’s new Google+ experience. Google have just released their latest round of improvements to the new version and it’s time to bid farewell to what they’ve renamed “classic”, although it’s hard to think of something as Classic that’s only been around since 2011.

Events

One of the changes many will welcome is that Events are coming to the new Google+. As the host of a Google+ event, you can instantly invite contacts (or make the event public), put the event on your Google calendar and keep track of RSVPs. Events automatically sync with your guests’ Google calendars and everyone attending can share their photos to a shared photo album.

Google say that there is still more more to be done to improve the experience but from the 24th of January you’ll be able to create and join events on Google+ web as you have in the past.

If you have a following on Google+, it makes sense to share you events on the social media platform, just as you would on Facebook and your website. Whether it be training or a webinar, a sale or a real life event, share it as widely as possible.
