eBay open sales to Latin America with Aeropost

eBay have expanded a relationship with Aeropost to better serve shoppers in Latin America. The partnership will give Latin America buyers access to tens of millions of eBay.com listings by purchasing them on Aeropost.com.

Aeropost offer an all inclusive price to consumers which includes the total cost of the item from eBay, shipping within the United States, shipping to the destination country, customs duties and handling, Aeropost.com service, local delivery and any additional charges that may arise during the import process. In some ways it’s similar to eBay GSP in that the customer sees the final price that they’ll pay.

After finding an item to purchase on eBay, customers simply copy the eBay URL into aeropost.com, which calculates an all-inclusive price that includes the price of the product, shipping, handling, taxes, and fees all rolled into one. Customers make just a single payment to aeropost.com or, depending on the country, aeropost.com offers a variety of financing options using local currency, cash, PayPal, and zero interest financing in installments and credit card points.

Aeropost.com can deliver directly to customers’ doorstep or one of the more than 100 aeropost.com storefront pickup locations across 40 countries.

We’re thrilled to partner with aeropost.com to bring eBay’s expansive selection of inventory to a broader consumer audience in Latin America and the Caribbean. The relationship allows eBay to leverage aeropost.com’s leadership in cross-border logistics to deliver a seamless shopping experience to a relatively untapped buyer segment.
– Sylvie De Wever, eBay’s General Manager of Latin America

Initially the service will be available to the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands (Tortola), Columbia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Grand Cayman, Honduras, Jamaica, Panamá, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent, Trinidad & Tobago, and Turks & Caicos, with more countries to be added in the near future.

For retailers this is a hands off nothing to do announcement. All you’ll see if you get a sale is a payment and shipping details. Once you’ve shipped your parcel that’s where Aeropost take over and handle the export from the US and eventually the delivery to the end customer.

  1. I’ll bet the buyers won’t be able to get combined shipping as on the UK Global Shipping Programme

  2. …then all you have to do is wait for ebay to refund them 6 weeks later without even mentioning why.
