PayPal launches ‘Business in a Box’ with WooCommerce and Xero

PayPal has announced a partnership with WooCommerce and Xero that they’re billing as ‘Business in a Box”. The package combines a Paypal business account, an online shop and also accounting and analytics services from Xero. The idea that that you can start selling online and developing a business almost immediately. Check out the video below for the marketing spiel. Currently the package is only available in the USA.

Business in a Box is squarely aimed at first-time business owners who already have access to inventory to sell and a plan to get going online. It can also easily be adopted by existing, established offline businesses that want to make the move to selling online.

One other feature of the package is access to Paypal Capital (short term loans from Paypal) so that you can grow your enterprise.

This offering strikes us as a pretty smart package for fledgling businesses and represents a good partnership between 3 firms well respected in the ecommerce space. It’s good to see commercial cooperation along these lines. If you’ve got a supply of goods sorted then things like a web shop front, payments capabilities and also accounting and analytics to hand are really all you need.

It will be interesting to see how adoption of the ‘Business in a Box’ service goes and whether a UK and European version is also on the cards.
