It’s nearly midwinter down in Australia and it looks like eBay over there are trying to inject a bit of zing into their sales. They’re billing it as a ‘Hump Month’ promotion. It seems that, down under, getting your way through June (rather like the hump day of Wednesday as you crave Friday) means you’re well on the way to the more pleasant spring and summer to come. You can find the so-called ‘Hump Month Frenzy’ here.
The event will run for all of June and will offer a variety of offers. For starters, eBay will be knocking 10% off everything on the site with a maximum discount of 1k for the entire month.
They say that more than 68k items from 410 different sellers will see deep discounts too. There will be offers in sectors such as tech, games, fashion and gadgets from leading brands. There’s a decent digest of some of the deals here. But expect them to change over the next few weeks.
They’ve also kicked off the event with a day of $20 off any purchase when you spend $100 or more. To get the deal, use the discount code “CRAZY20” at checkout. Doubtless, over the course of the month, there be more offers to buyers.
Any initiative like this is to be welcomed. And it’s pretty bold. If it generates a buzz, encourages shoppers to think of eBay as a place for a decent bargain and brings in the buyers, it’s a good thing. Will eBay Uk follow suit with anything similar anytime soon, one wonders?
