From Monday the 17th of July 2017 until the 30th of September 2017, Santander customers with a 123 Lite account can earn 5% cash back on all purchases made with Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. The offer is open to both new and existing customers.
This is an interesting promotion as it’s agnostic towards payment provider and aims to encourage mobile payments for Santander customers across the board regardless of which type of smartphone they favour.
It’s also worth remembering that you can make payments online using digital wallets as well as by tapping your smartphone to make contactless payments in a physical retailers store. Making online payments which avoids the £30 maximum you might encounter for contactless payments means you could vastly increase your cashback earnings. Look for sites where you can pay with your mobile wallet and make sure it’s connected to your Santander card for the next three months.
Santander’s figures suggest that you could earn £114 cashback (which will be paid as a lump sum by the end of November) if you spend £30 per day for the 76 days that the promotion runs. As little as £10 a day would still earn you a £38 payout.
This offer runs in addition to other cashback offers on the 123 Lite account which is a paperless bank account carrying a £1 per month charge. To qualify for cashback offers you’ll need to pay at least £500 into your account each month, have at least two active Direct Debits and log on to Online or Mobile Banking at least once in every three months.

If you don’t already offer Android, Apple and Samsung Pay on your website it might be time to consider doing so. We’re not going to pretend that Santander have enough 123 Lite customers to make a massive difference over the summer months, but there is little doubt regardless of Santander’s promotion that consumers will start preferring their mobile wallet over their credit or debit card for online payments.
